Music With cheer music mixes all sounding the same these days...a crazy mix of ambiguous voiceovers and sound effects over an un-danceable beat...does music really matter anymore?
Absolutely. But only when it is done correctly.
Amy always prefers to provide her own music for the custom routine that she delivers to her clients for one specific reason; so that the routine will be developed and perfectly in sync with the music.
Amy uses Astounding Sounds (exclusively) for her cheer music mixes. Astounding Sounds is her husband, Colby Logan. Colby is a full time DJ and musician and takes pride in delivering top quality mixes (or he will hear about it later!). Conveniently, Colby and Amy work closely to develop a cut of music for her routines.
The process starts with Amy gathering as much information about the team as possible including number of kids, ability level and skills. She then hands Colby an 8-count sheet skeleton of the full routine with as much detail as possible. Along with the details of the routine, Amy also communicates to Colby the specific music and custom voiceover requests gathered from the client. Colby then puts together a custom mix that fits the movements of the 8-count sheets with all of the voiceover and sounds effects necessary to give it a unique feel. Amy then begins the creative process of mapping out every count of the routine to the music. About 75% of the time, Amy requests specific changes to be made in the music to better fit the routine as she has developed. This iterative process between Colby and Amy continues until the music and routine are completely in sync (or until Amy gets that look from her husband...)
The end result...a routine perfectly in sync with the music!
